The problem

Your water bill may be costing more than it should

  • Incorrect meter readings
  • Estimated bills
  • Hidden leaks
  • Continuous overnight consumption
  • Incorrect tariff classification
  • Duplicate charges
  • Wastewater charges based on inaccurate assumptions
  • Surface-water drainage charges
  • Vacant-site consumption
  • Unused or redundant meters
  • Inefficient washrooms, kitchens & cooling systems
  • Poor visibility across multiple sites
  • Lack of invoice validation
  • Gradual usage increases that go unnoticed

Illustrative case study

Multi-site retail estate

A retail group with 24 sites had no central view of water consumption. Invoices were paid without validation, and three sites were billed on estimated readings for over two years.

A billing audit and consumption review identified tariff misclassification at four locations, a continuous overnight flow at a distribution centre, and duplicate standing charges on two closed units.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does a water audit take?

A billing and consumption review is typically completed within two to three weeks of receiving your data. On-site audits are scheduled around your operations and usually take one day per site, though larger or more water-intensive locations can take longer.

Do we need to change water supplier?

No. An audit is entirely independent of your supplier arrangements. Many of the savings we identify — billing errors, tariff misclassification, leaks, and inefficient equipment — exist regardless of who supplies your water.

What information do you need from us?

Typically 12–24 months of water and wastewater invoices, meter numbers and locations, a list of sites, and basic information about operating hours and water-using equipment.

What if you don’t find any savings?

That is a legitimate outcome, and we will say so plainly. A clean audit still gives you a documented baseline, validated invoices, and confidence that your water spend is correct.
